Denne studien beskriver veldig mye omkring glutation-syntese fra svovelholdige amminosyrer. Den nevner bl.a. at glutation er vanskelig å bruke som en markør for noe som helst fordi den opptrer nesten eksklusivt intern i cellene. Glutation-tilstanden i blodet blir derfor ikke en pålitelig markør for hverken glutation-mangel eller aktivitet.

Den konkluderer med at svovelholdige stoffer kan være nyttig i visse sykdomer hvor kroppen er utsatt for stort oksidativt stress, f.eks. kroniske betennelser, kreft og aids. Men også noe så hverdagslig som aldring nevnes i denne forbindelse.
